Introduction
Mono respects your privacy. This policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our mobile application and related services.
Local-First Data Storage
Mono is a local-first application. By default, all your personal data is stored exclusively on your device using a local SQLite database. This includes:
- Habits, completions, and streak data
- Goals, milestones, and progress tracking
- Journal entries, mood levels, and gratitude logs
- Energy levels and daily activity data
- Achievements, levels, XP, and gems
- Theme, font, and language preferences
When data is stored locally, we have no access to it and cannot retrieve, view, or modify your information.
Cloud Sync
If you enable cloud sync (available to Basic, Pro, and Max subscribers), your data will be encrypted and stored on our secure servers to enable synchronization across your devices.
On iOS devices, you may also use file-based iCloud sync, which stores your data in your personal iCloud account under Apple's privacy policy. On Android, you can sync to a folder of your choice.
Synced data includes habits, goals, journal entries, gratitude logs, achievements, and progression data. Your data is encrypted during transmission and at rest.
AI Features
Mono includes AI-powered features such as chat assistance, goal planning suggestions, journal prompt generation, and habit analysis. When you use AI features:
- Your messages and relevant context are sent to our servers
- AI responses are generated using third-party language model providers
- Chat history may be stored to maintain conversation context
- The AI may learn your preferences to provide better suggestions
AI usage is subject to daily limits based on your subscription plan. You can use Mono without AI features if you prefer not to share this data.
Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services to provide our features:
- Supabase: Authentication and cloud data storage
- OpenRouter: AI language model routing
- RevenueCat: Subscription and payment processing
- Cloudflare: API hosting and rate limiting
- Apple/Google: App store payments and iCloud sync
Account Information
Mono does not require an account for basic use. If you sign up for cloud features, we collect your email address for authentication. Subscription payments are processed through the App Store or Google Play Store—we do not have access to your payment details.
Data We Collect
Information you provide: Optional profile name and avatar, habits, goals, journal entries, and other content you create within the app.
Automatically collected: Device type, operating system version, app version, and a device identifier for sync coordination. Anonymous, aggregated usage statistics and crash reports to improve the app.
AI interactions: Messages you send to the AI assistant and context needed to generate responses.
How We Use Your Information
We use information to provide and maintain the app, enable cloud sync and AI features, process subscriptions, personalize AI responses, improve the app through anonymous analytics, and respond to support requests.
Data Sharing
We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information. We share data only with service providers necessary to operate our features (listed above), and when required by law.
Data Retention
Local data remains on your device until you delete the app or clear app data. Cloud sync data is retained until you delete it or request deletion. AI chat history may be retained for service improvement but can be cleared through the app.
Data Export and Deletion
You can export your data at any time in JSON, CSV, or Markdown format through the app's settings (available to Basic+ subscribers). You can delete all local data by uninstalling the app or using the in-app deletion option.
Children's Privacy
Mono is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
Security
We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your information. Local data benefits from your device's built-in security. Cloud data is encrypted in transit and at rest. Authentication tokens are stored securely on your device.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the new policy in the app and updating the date above.
Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have rights regarding your personal information, including the right to access, correct, delete, or export your data. Since Mono is local-first, you have direct control over most of your data on your device.
