Introduction

Mono ("we", "our", or "us") is a personal growth app that helps you build habits, track goals, journal, and grow with an AI companion. We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting your personal data. This policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information.

Local-First Architecture

Mono is built with a local-first architecture. By default, all your personal data is stored exclusively on your device using SQLite. This includes:

  • Habits, completions, streaks, and momentum data
  • Goals, milestones, and progress tracking
  • Todos and task management data
  • Journal entries, mood logs, and gratitude entries
  • Energy levels and daily patterns
  • Achievements, XP, levels, and gems
  • App preferences (theme, font, language)

When your data is stored locally, we have no access to it. We cannot view, retrieve, or modify your information stored on your device.

Cloud Sync (Optional)

If you choose to enable cloud sync (available to paying subscribers), your data is stored on our secure servers powered by Supabase. This enables:

  • Synchronization across multiple devices
  • Manual backup creation and restoration (up to 3 backups per day)
  • Seamless experience when switching devices

Cloud sync is entirely optional. You can use Mono fully offline without ever syncing to our servers. All synced data is encrypted during transmission (TLS) and at rest.

AI Features

Mono includes an AI companion that can help with goal planning, habit suggestions, journal prompts, and general conversation. When you use AI features:

  • Your messages are sent to our servers for processing
  • Relevant context (habits, goals, recent activity) may be included to personalize responses
  • AI responses are generated using third-party language model providers
  • Conversation history is stored to maintain context within sessions

AI features are subject to daily usage limits based on your subscription. You can use Mono without AI features if you prefer not to share this data.

Information We Collect

Information you provide: Email address (if you create an account), profile name (optional), and all content you create within the app.

For cloud sync: A randomly generated device identifier to manage sync across your devices. This is not linked to your actual device information.

AI interactions: Messages you send to the AI assistant and context (habits, goals, recent activity) needed to generate helpful responses.

Third-Party Services

We use the following services to provide our features:

  • Supabase: Authentication and cloud data storage
  • OpenRouter: AI language model routing and processing
  • RevenueCat: Subscription management
  • Cloudflare: API hosting and security
  • Apple App Store / Google Play: App distribution and payments

How We Use Your Information

We use your information to: provide and maintain the app's features, enable cloud sync when activated, process AI requests and personalize responses, manage subscriptions, and respond to support requests.

Data Sharing

We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties. We only share data with service providers necessary to operate our features (listed above), and when required by law.

Data Retention

Local data remains on your device until you delete the app or clear app data. Cloud data is retained while your account is active and can be deleted upon request. You can start a new AI conversation at any time, which clears the current session context.

Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access your data (most is already on your device)
  • Request a copy of your cloud data by contacting support
  • Delete your local data by uninstalling the app
  • Request deletion of cloud data by contacting support
  • Opt out of AI features entirely

Children's Privacy

Mono is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have collected such information, please contact us immediately.

Security

We implement industry-standard security measures. Local data benefits from your device's built-in security. Cloud data is encrypted in transit and at rest. Authentication uses secure tokens stored on your device.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by posting the new policy in the app and on our website.
